It looks like the world economic crisis is being reflected on our clothes as a trend. Patches, tears and unstitchings have become decorations for our clothes, especially jeans.

Is this a way of making the economic crisis we’re in even more present? Or is it a way of rescuing past trends like grunge?

Either way, what’s true is that this spring distressed, torn or worn jeans or jeans full of patches will be all the rage, as you can see in the preview of MANGO’s Spring 2010 collection.

Sophie Auster (daughter of well-known writer and cinema director Paul Auster) is one of the new faces of the Spring-Summer 2010 MANGO catalogue, and is bringing a modern fresh breath of air to the Spanish brand.

Logically, for the upcoming months of good weather you’re going to need a cooler wardrobe once you’ve finally said goodbye to coats and the thousands of layers we’re all wearing to keep warm just now.

Yet again, we can yet again speak of ties with music. As well as being an actress, Sophie Auster is a singer, and for the MANGO catalogue she’s been photographed at a recording studio, as if in the most natural of modelling shoots. Read more…

For some time now, it’s been possible to buy more than just street clothes at MANGO. Along with jeans, tops, shoes and party dresses, you’ll also find pyjamas, nightdresses and underwear in stores. On their own, black and white are elegant, sophisticated and discreet colours. But when you combine them on a single garment and form a pattern the result couldn’t be any more perfect or flattering.

This year, you can find many examples of the perfect harmony between these two colours on dresses, t-shirts and sweaters from the preview of MANGO’s 2010 Spring Collection.

But, regardless of the fact that black and white are once again back in fashion, together or separately, both are key colours for your basic must-haves and are a trend that keeps making comebacks.

We’ve already said a lot about celebrities as possible new faces or designers for MANGO. But one of the groups we’re most interested in, halfway between celebrities and normal girls like you and me, are bloggers: a new generation of fashion lovers who have made their voices heard on the internet and have become improvised icons from their (no longer quite so) humble style diaries.

They are all over the world. Some are internationally famous and others are local muses, but they all have the same approach: teaching what they wear.

Would you like any of them to collaborate with us? And if so, who’s your favourite blogger?

When we suggested the contest “The best THINK UP idea” I loved reading all the original and affordable ideas you sent in. Your imagination and experiences gave us new ideas for being on trend without spending too much.

There were several suggestions I found very original, like the Fashion Swap Party, a brilliant idea I would like to share with you since it’s great to have one with your friends.

So, what do these three words mean? A Fashion Swap Party is a party where friends all get together to exchange clothes. It’s like going shopping with your friends, but at home and without spending anything at all.
