There are lots of things about MANGO’s new Autumn-Winter 09 collection that attract my attention, one of which has nothing to do with the clothes. I’m talking about the amazing make-up worn by Scarlett Johansson, the face of the campaign, a look that you yourself can achieve at home without breaking the bank.

It’s a very versatile look, as we can see by the way it suits all of the various MANGO styles. Independently of this, it will also bring out the colour of your own hair and eyes.

The make-up looks for the coming season do not follow a strict trend in terms of colour this year. In the case of Scarlett’s make-up, MANGO has opted to extend the magic of summer in the eyes with shimmering shades of gold, beige and earthy colours, which perfectly capture the warmth of the summer months.

Smoky eyes in gold and earthy colours

These shades will bring out the colour of blue eyes and add warmth to green or brown eyes. Remember a touch of beige at the corner of the eye to light up the look. The element that gives the finishing touch to eye make-up is liner on the upper and lower lid. Get a more intense, deeper look with black or dark brown eyeliner.

Eyebrows are important again this season: brows that are thick, dark and made up with matte eye shadow and a bevelled brush will look fantastic. They accentuate the expression of your eyes even more, highlighting their strength under a shapely arch.

Nude lips

Although the eyes are key for this make-up look, the mouth does not take a back seat, even less so with lips as voluptuous as Scarlett’s.

When a smoky look is used for the eyes, like the brown used in this case, the golden rule is to use nude shades on the lips so as not to overload the face. As you can see, MANGO have followed this rule, using a slightly pinkish, matte shade of nude that highlights the natural pink of Scarlett’s lips. A light brown shade of nude is another option that would work just as well.

Contrast in the face

MANGO’s make-up artists have opted for a matte, even finish using a foundation base and illuminating powder that provides the face with its overall porcelain effect. As you can see, the pale effect of the face is a clear departure from the summer, and this look is not disturbed by the touch of blusher, which is used only very lightly, leaving just a hint of rouge. A peachy pink has been used here to fit in with the overall look.

This is a fairly elaborate make-up look, but one that is not difficult to attain. At home, by rescuing your summer eye shadows and mixing them with darker shades of eyeliner and a pale face, you can get the Scarlett look without breaking the bank.

Scarlett is already bueatiful, so it’s no hard to make her look good. However, these tips for the make-up are very precious. I suggest doing the same, but with her hairstyle.

    Julie.

Which foundation would you recommend for a pale finish?

Foundation tones are grouped into three main groups: rosé (pink), beige and doré (gold). For a pale finish, I recommend a rosé foundation, but all it depends on your skin tone. If you choose a very clear tone may be artificial.

Bobby Brown has a wide tonal range, for example.
