Mango girls follow fashion
Many of you won’t know their names, but you’re sure to know their faces. These girls, who can be found at all the parties for Fashion Weeks, are true trendsetters and are all modelling for MANGO. For the past few weeks they have been spotted both on and off international catwalks, proving that they are highly popular in their own right: they are the it girls we all want to be.
These new muses of street style never stop. Leigh Lezark has been spotted in New York surrounded by friends and getting plenty of attention thanks to her look. This DJ cum fashion icon never stops, you’re just as likely to see her at a film premiere as backstage at a fashion show.
Drive well and save more

Public transport is your best ally for cutting costs. But, occasionally you have no choice but to use the car to drive to work, uni or other places that can’t be easily reached by public transport.
The ups and downs in petrol and diesel prices are causing more damage than they ought to people’s pockets. There is very little you can do to save on the price of fuel, but if you modify the way you drive, you will be able to use less fuel and therefore, save more.
These are not miracle tricks to half your petrol expenses. These are some very simple tips, which if combined, will help you cut costs. Plus, the philosophy of these tips revolves around driving slowly, which is the key idea to improving safety on the road.
Trends 09: leather jackets

The trends for Autumn-Winter 09/10 seem to be heading in several directions. On the one hand, you get the current crisis and the predilection for greys, blacks and whites, while on the other, there’s the 80s revival.
And halfway between both of these, you find leather. This material can be found in any brand or collection. If you go to your favourite store tomorrow you’ll find a leather garment. Read more…
Save money by sleeping in airports

Everybody loves travelling. A weekend, the odd day here and there, some weeks or a long holiday. And despite the fact that the price of plane tickets is falling, you can also use this simple tip to make further savings on top of these cheaper fares.
Taking the first flight of the day, at 5 or 6 am, can sometimes force you to spend money on an extra hotel night, making costs shoot up. And you must remember airports are usually a long way from the city centre, and public transport doesn’t really work at that time of day. Plus, a taxi is not an option. Read more…
Red lipsticks against the credit crunch

This is not an urban legend: in times of crisis, the sales of lipstick, particularly red, soar. There is even an economic index that gets its name from this peculiar female phenomenon (the lipstick index, which monitors the increased sales of cosmetics during recession). Though this may seem absurd, it isn’t surprising that when things aren’t going well and we can’t buy clothes and accessories, our biggest consolation is buying extravagant makeup. Leave the neutral discreet tones for the good times when you’re not short of money.
And there is nothing sexier than a scarlet mouth. Now that it seems that the “womanly woman” is making a comeback and the androgynous look is a thing of the past, there are a series of things to remember.
We’re dining at home tonight: Mexican food

Going out to dinner at a good restaurant with good company and good food is a great pleasure. You might want to enjoy this more often, but don’t in order to control your spending. This is all well and good as a way of saving: you don’t spend money if you don’t go out to dinner. But I have a less drastic and tastier option: turn your house into a restaurant at night.
I’ll explain: perhaps one evening you feel like dining with your partner or friends, but going to the restaurant is too expensive. That’s not a problem. You can enjoy these types of delicacies in your own home. A kind of themed dinner.
Usually large supermarkets have a section for international foods and products. There you can buy packs which have everything you need to prepare some fajitas or burritos. It’s easy and cheap.
What are boyfriend jeans?

For some time now, celebrities have been spotted wearing something that you all use at home: baggy clothes you feel comfortable in, like some very worn baggy jeans, or your partner’s pyjama trousers. Hence the expression boyfriend jeans.
You can now see something that used to be limited to Sundays out on the streets: wide baggy jeans, which are very informal but very fashionable. Plus, if you’re wearing them round the house and suddenly need to go out, nobody will notice how you’ve improvised. That’s a plus point.
I like them for travelling and airports. It’s always cold there, the seats aren’t too comfortable and the waiting about drives us all mad. Is there anything better than loose comfy trousers? Read more…
Beyonce Knowles has the best video clip of all time

Everybody’s heard this one. The internet is already flooded with jokes about Kanye West’s famous intervention at the MTV Video Awards when Taylor Swift was receiving her award for Best Female Video with ‘You Belong With Me’ and the rapper suddenly jumped on stage, took the mike off the speechless singer and said:
Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’m gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.
While it may not be the funniest and most absurd intervention of the last few years in this sort of ceremony, it’s certainly one of them. Beyonce’s face was priceless, while Taylor’s showed she was still trying to take in what West was saying. Read more…
Dress your hair with your own accessories

You quite often have the same problem with accessories as you have with clothes: you see something you love on a celebrity and go absolutely mad looking for something similar with no joy. The thing is, unless you know how to make patterns and sew this is almost impossible with clothes, but with accessories it’s a lot easier, all you need is a bit of craftiness and items we all have at home.
Do you love the bows Lauren Conrad (star of The Hills) wears as grips but can’t find them anywhere? Get a hairpin you no longer use, satin ribbon you will find in any haberdashery, some plastic sheets of the sort used to keep men’s shirt collars straight, and some glue.
Cut several bits of ribbon (whatever colour you prefer) and the same number of plastic strips and join them using a few drops of glue on the same side. Once they’ve dried out, put them in the shape of a bow and place them on the hairpin in a fan shape, pressing down hard with your finger so that it doesn’t come apart. Take one of the remaining bits of ribbon and knot it round. Voilà.
Straightening your hair is easy if you know how

If you want to cut your hairdressing costs without compromising the appearance or results on your hair, it’s time to learn a few tricks so you can straighten it yourself at home.
Brushing is a hairdressing technique which straightens and tames curly or wild hair. I’m sure at times you feel like a change of look: skip the hairdresser’s appointment and try picking up a brush and hairdryer.
The first thing to do is wash your hair the same way you normally do, using your usual conditioners or masks. Towel dry it well and untangle it carefully. It’s important for hair to be damp but not soaking wet (if you apply direct heat on hair that is completely soaking, you damage it even more).
