When one year finishes and another begins it’s traditional to make a list of resolutions, either mentally or on paper. I’m sure this sounds familiar, right? The bad part is that quite often as the year progresses these good intentions are forgotten and it shouldn’t be like that!

The MANGO THINK UP philosophy has always been based on enjoying life to the maximum without wasting money. You can be on trend and have a great time by spending your money sensibly. Our philosophy will be the same in 2010, so here you have the first resolution on your list.

These last few months we’ve been talking about do-it-yourself as a way of saving money while developing your creativity. We’ve applied it to cooking, decoration and accessories. And we love it! We’ll keep at it in 2010.

With this transition image, Diane Kruger shows us two things. The first is how comfortably you can dress to travel by plane, something we already showed you a few months back. It also shows that the New Year comes with more and more combinations.

While animal print was a must-have in 2009 and is still present on accessories, coats, shoes, etc., the country style is back to bring us a natural feel. Read more…

2009 is almost over. In two days time we’ll be celebrating New Year’s Eve and New Year. We’re all saying goodbye to a year which for some has been amazing and for others, not so much… but that can be improved in 2010, after all, that’s what the new year is for.

Music is a brilliant way to liven up a party, and we already suggested five songs for that a while back. Now we’re suggesting five songs for you to dance along to while 2010 begins. Do you fancy a dance? Read more…

Following on with our series of interviews with fashion bloggers in Spain, it’s now the turn of Patricia, better-known as Shopaholic, a 22-year-old student from Madrid whose blog could lead you to think she’s a compulsive shopper, although her passion for fashion has nothing to do with uncontrolled spending.

Her blog is one of those gems you find on the internet which talks about the latest trends, designers, models, brands and magazines in a carefully polished setting and from a familiar and thoughtful perspective.

Through this series of questions and answers you’ll find out a bit more about her and she will tell you who her favourite icons or celebrities are, some of her style tips and her best Think Up idea for the season.

Here she is:

My LBD for the last night of the year

It’s barely four days until the end of 2009. We say goodbye to one year and welcome another full of hope. Do you know what you’re going to wear on this magical night? I do. I’ve chosen a little black dress from the THINK UP collection.

A LBD is a key item for your wardrobe. By simply changing accessories you can create different looks on the same base: an impeccably-cut black dress.

The thing is, you often go mad thinking about what to wear on New Year’s Eve and end up buying terribly striking dresses you only use once which then lie forgotten in your wardrobe.

Everybody likes to turn up at a party looking perfect, but when the weather isn’t to your advantage, this is harder and you have to think of alternatives for wrapping up in the cold. You’re not likely to have that problem in the summer but at Christmas see who dares go out in a mini-dress and no coat.

To avoid freezing and needing a heater the moment you go anywhere, you should choose some of the looks seen at MANGO and worn by celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Alexa Chung, Victoria Beckham or Sarah Jessica Parker, among others. Read more…

Although clothes and accessories are important for a party look, hairstyle and make-up are just as important. What’s more, if they’re not properly done, they can ruin even the nicest of dresses.

The stylists, make-up artists and hairdressers of MANGO campaigns know a lot about this and that is why we’ve taken a look at some of their creations, to recreate them this Christmas.

The first look can be seen on the gorgeous curvy Marie-Ange Casta. One of the rules of make-up is that you should do up your eyes or your lips, never both. Here all the attention is focused on those wonderful red lips, totally festive and sensual.

Strapless dresses for this Christmas

vestidos_strapless_mango-8

Here are some more suggestions about what to wear this Christmas. You’ve already read about asymmetric dresses and the dresses worn by Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson. And now there’s something else to help you choose a dress: the strapless trend.

These dresses are one of the best choices if you want to look elegant at a party and be the centre of attention, with those bare shoulders giving a touch of sensuality to the look. Read more…
