Five basic items for spring-summer 2010

Spring is nearing and it’s time to make a note of the clothes you should start thinking about. Fortunately, trends change less and less and you should have no problems using last summer’s buys next summer – it’s all a matter of recycling. But if you really want to start renewing your wardrobe you should start with the basics.
I’m placing my bets on dresses in romantic cuts, jersey fabric, platforms, striking prints and light trenches.

Romantic dresses (especially babydolls, with florals) will be this summer’s must-have. They’re as fresh, comfortable and feminine as they come and you’ll be unable to resist them. You can get them already at MANGO.

Grey sportswear-type jersey will basically be the star fabric, following the trend of the last few seasons. It can just as easily be used for skirts as for blazers or biker jackets.

For example, I love this option.

Platforms will still be popular this spring-summer. And it’s not a bad thing, in fact, it’s good news since the centimetres of sole between the pavement and you couldn’t be any comfier. And if you haven’t tried them because you thought they were too OTT it won’t be long before you fall for them, I assure you.

Especially with shoes like these.

Prints will be another of the season’s cornerstones. It doesn’t matter whether they’re check, geometric figuresm stripes or spots.

And since it’s getting harder to tell the difference between seasons, trenches can also be worn in spring.
Are you up for it?
