Black or white? Choose both!

On their own, black and white are elegant, sophisticated and discreet colours. But when you combine them on a single garment and form a pattern the result couldn’t be any more perfect or flattering.

This year, you can find many examples of the perfect harmony between these two colours on dresses, t-shirts and sweaters from the preview of MANGO’s 2010 Spring Collection.

But, regardless of the fact that black and white are once again back in fashion, together or separately, both are key colours for your basic must-haves and are a trend that keeps making comebacks.

Grey, a trend for spring dresses

The colour grey, in all shades, is going to be one of the strongest trends colour-wise for spring 2010. It’s not generally a colour that is associated with this season full of pinks and bright colours, but on this occasion it seems to be very fitting for the dresses from MANGO’s spring collection.

At times grey might seem too sober or too sad. Personally I think it’s a very elegant colour. And do you know what this colour stands for? Independence, self-sufficiency and self-control. It’s a colour for women who are strong and decisive, yet also feminine.

Here are some examples from MANGO’s spring collection. The top photo shows three dresses in three different shades of dark grey. These wide-cut dresses are figure-hugging at strategic points: waist, hips or below the chest.

How to make the most of a wedding look

It’s always great news when an acquaintance, friend or relative gets married, even if this is usually accompanied by headaches in terms of style. We all dread that “wedding moment”. The thing is, even though we are excited at the thought of swapping jeans and t-shirts for elegant outfits, the transition from casual to formal is not always as simple and exciting.

Most of the time, searching for the perfect look is quite an expensive exercise, especially if we have many events and our purses don’t stretch to such a large wardrobe. So, what is the best solution? Spend a lot on one dress and get our money’s worth by repeating it? Or, to have several cards up our sleeve and also be able to use these outfits again?

In my opinion, the second option is almost always the best.
