At MANGO Think Up we’ve shown you several examples of DIY techniques to help you customise or create new garments or objects for decoration or organisation.

There are many advantages to DIY philosophy. On the one hand the satisfaction of making your own creations and on the other, saving money. Plus, DIY is a way to channel and express your creativity. Personally, I love this way of thinking and creating and recommend it to everyone.

Moreover, you could make some money by selling your own creations through webpages like My Crafty Closet or Etsy. A bit of extra cash would come in handy for buying that MANGO item you like so much, wouldn’t it?

Let MANGO Outlet stores dress you for work: get looks for less and save money

I can’t think of a better THINK UP philosophy than this to start 2010 with. We love shopping, as long as we are getting things that aren’t strictly speaking necessary, but when it comes to getting outfits for work, things we really need and have to get, it takes the fun out of one of our favourite activities.

That’s why when looking for a “work uniform” it’s best to get the cheapest basics, so that you can spend most of what you save on clothes and accessories you’ll really enjoy. But this doesn’t mean wearing bad quality outfits that are out of fashion!

At MANGO Outlet stores you can get great suits for under 50 euros. If this isn’t a bargain I don’t know what is.

After a quiet calm Christmas, here we have the first sales of 2010. Even in the middle of the economic crisis, which affects most of us, you can deal with this just like always by getting your act together so as not to waste money.

The circumstances are in our favour given that the global economic situation has been and remains unstable, making consumers reticent to purchase. Almost all of us have resisted the temptation to purchase, while waiting for this moment. All the more reason to establish a spending plan now that we are going to grasp at the sale period with so much enthusiasm.

The first thing you need to do is set a spending limit and stick to it. Depending on how much money you can (and should) spend you should then establish a list of priorities.

A few days ago our contest, “The best Think UP idea” ended. Lots of you entered, providing brilliant ideas and proving that, with the tough times we live in, the best way to enjoy yourself while getting by is by following your own Think Up instinct.

Although the winner won’t be announced for a few weeks still; I suggest you, the possible winners, start thinking how you’re going to spend the monthly 50-euro prize, to be enjoyed for 6 months. If instead of going to the store and buying the first thing that catches your eye you distribute your budget, those 50 euros will seem more like 500. These tips will come in handy for the winner, and for those of you who weren’t so lucky.

Save money by sleeping in airports

Everybody loves travelling. A weekend, the odd day here and there, some weeks or a long holiday. And despite the fact that the price of plane tickets is falling, you can also use this simple tip to make further savings on top of these cheaper fares.

Taking the first flight of the day, at 5 or 6 am, can sometimes force you to spend money on an extra hotel night, making costs shoot up. And you must remember airports are usually a long way from the city centre, and public transport doesn’t really work at that time of day. Plus, a taxi is not an option. Read more…
