Five short MANGO dresses for spring-summer 2010

Good weather means you can wear more daring, and therefore shorter, outfits to keep cool in spring. For MANGO’s Spring-Summer 2010 collection, already in stores, mini-dresses are a great choice.
They’re available in many styles and models so you can choose to suit your taste and usual dress style. These five are my favourites. Read more…
Bolero jackets: must-haves for your spring-summer 2010 wardrobe

As the good weather approaches, sleeves, skirts and dresses are getting shorter. And so are jackets: blazers, cardigans and leather jackets also barely reach your navel.
It was a well-loved famous French designer, sadly now gone, who popularised this design we know so well. Despite the fact that many people find it uncomfortable when jackets don’t reach their waist, cropped jackets are very youthful and are perfect for a time of year when you can really do without excess centimetres on clothes.
Think Up item for all seasons: invest in a trench for life

If there’s one thing that will never go out of fashion it’s the trench coat. It was invented by an Englishman for soldiers fighting in wars to protect themselves from the cold, wind and damp, all at once. And in just a few decades this coat has gone from the frontlines to the stores.
Apart from its history, it’s completely timeless and can be used all year round.
Just so you know…leggings are trousers now

When we were small we wore nothing else: in the summer we’d call them cycling shorts and in the winter they’d be leggings. We had them in every colour of the rainbow and I’m sure that your favourites, just like mine, were fluorescent or floral ones. Once everyone grew up they were set aside and forgotten. But a couple of years ago designers and stores rescued them from oblivion, and the cotton and lycra items used only for going to the gym made a huge comeback and became known to everyone as leggings.
It was hard getting used to the idea, but we did eventually. We’ve all gone back to them after some complaining. Wearing something that feels almost like pyjamas on the streets is a guilty pleasure that’s hard to resist.
Coloured jackets for spring

As soon as I saw this photo I realised I needed some colours in my wardrobe since as soon as spring starts jackets are one of my staple items. Actually, mine, yours and any celebrity’s …
Here is the new collection of coloured jackets: shorter, longer, thicker, coloured, in basic shades… they’re perfect for keeping warm when wearing a floral look in the first days of spring.
Dree Hemingway for MANGO Spring-Summer 2010

For spring-summer 2010 MANGO has chosen new and up-and-coming faces – the stars of fashion, music or cinema of tomorrow.
You already saw Sophie Auster, daughter of famous writer and film-maker Paul Auster. Well, now it’s the turn of another new signing: Dree Hemingway, great-granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway. Read more…
Spring bracelets and cuffs by MANGO

Bracelets and cuffs were of the first decorative elements used by women as adornments. You can see some of these ancient pieces at any archaeological museum, with designs you could even wear nowadays.
MANGO’s spring collection brings you some striking jewellery, particularly bracelets and cuffs which in my opinion are basic fashion accessories.
There are several trends. There are attractive and elaborate models featuring large stones incrusted in metal or plastic. This metal bracelet with imitation turquoise stones and the black bracelet with large coloured stones are amazing.
Patches, tears and unstitchings: a trend for your jeans

It looks like the world economic crisis is being reflected on our clothes as a trend. Patches, tears and unstitchings have become decorations for our clothes, especially jeans.
Is this a way of making the economic crisis we’re in even more present? Or is it a way of rescuing past trends like grunge?
Either way, what’s true is that this spring distressed, torn or worn jeans or jeans full of patches will be all the rage, as you can see in the preview of MANGO’s Spring 2010 collection.
MANGO Spring-Summer 2010 catalogue with Sophie Auster

Sophie Auster (daughter of well-known writer and cinema director Paul Auster) is one of the new faces of the Spring-Summer 2010 MANGO catalogue, and is bringing a modern fresh breath of air to the Spanish brand.
Logically, for the upcoming months of good weather you’re going to need a cooler wardrobe once you’ve finally said goodbye to coats and the thousands of layers we’re all wearing to keep warm just now.
Yet again, we can yet again speak of ties with music. As well as being an actress, Sophie Auster is a singer, and for the MANGO catalogue she’s been photographed at a recording studio, as if in the most natural of modelling shoots. Read more…
Black or white? Choose both!

On their own, black and white are elegant, sophisticated and discreet colours. But when you combine them on a single garment and form a pattern the result couldn’t be any more perfect or flattering.
This year, you can find many examples of the perfect harmony between these two colours on dresses, t-shirts and sweaters from the preview of MANGO’s 2010 Spring Collection.
But, regardless of the fact that black and white are once again back in fashion, together or separately, both are key colours for your basic must-haves and are a trend that keeps making comebacks.
